The most fascinating part of suede shoes is unique texture of fur, without doubt.
You need to protect it because suede leather is normally easy to get dirty comparing with smooth leather.
In this article, I will go through how to protect your suede shoes in neat.
2 ways to Protect Suede Shoes
Many ways of protecting suede shoes can be found on the internet.
I will introduce the 2 most effective ways in my experience.
1. Brush regularly
The most important thing to protect suede shoes is to brush regularly.
As you can imagine, the fur catches dust or dirt quite easily as you wear and walk around.
If you brush it regularly once a 2~3 wear, you can protect and keep the fur of suede in neat appearance.
It does not take much time so let’s try it!
Pighair Brush is recommended!
The pighair is a bit stiff so the best for shaggy surface of suede.
Grab the one with a large handle.
2. Apply a Protective Spray
Applying a protective spray is effective for protecting suede too.
Since the surface is a bit shaggy, water easily comes into the leather which sometime makes stains. The protective spray has waterproof effect so you can prevent such problem.
Brush a bit before using spray.
To keep the waterproof effect, it is better to spray once a 1~2 month.
Tip for a Protective Spray
Pick the spray which is especially made for suede leather.
There is a protective spray for smooth leather, but it may hardnen the suede or give other damages.
How to Remove Scuffs or Stains on Suede Shoes
If your suede shoes get scuffs or stains, use Crepe Brush.
The crepe brush can loosen up the fur of suede leather, so the scuffs or stains will be disappeared by brushing with it.
When the stains cannot be removed completely, please try washing with water as introduced in an article below.
